Menopause: An Invitation to a New You

One of my clients, who looks younger than her age, mentioned during a session that she felt that nothing was going on for her since she had hit peri-menopause, just to wait for menopause and then die. My heart was filled with sadness and pain for her because she felt like that, as she is a beautiful woman from the inside out. Menopause throws many women into despair, and they think the best years have gone, leaving them empty-handed. It can be different.

What about me?

I have to admit that when my clients talked about their symptoms, such as night sweats, not sleeping well, brain fog, and hot flashes, I couldn’t relate to any of these. I thought how blessed I was. Until now, I have experienced difficulty recalling names, losing my phone, or remembering if I turned a hob off. Not to mention, I gained a lot of weight out of nowhere. It feels like I bit into a chocolate bar, and suddenly, kilos pilled up onto my belly, face, arms, legs, basically everywhere. My hair has started thinning. Let's not forget to mention the mental challenges, like motivation. I loved ice plunging every morning, meditating, and doing yoga, but for the past six months, I couldn’t be bothered and couldn’t motivate myself. Even though I implemented many motivational hacks, I still couldn’t break through. It wasn't me. What was going on? Was I losing my marbles? I put it down to my worries over my ill dog. Also, I couldn’t be bothered with gardening and other domestic chores. I have to admit I started wondering if I had the blues until I came across The Menopause Reset by Dr Mindy Pelz. Then the penny dropped! I realized that my testosterone level had decreased and, with that, my motivation. Hurray! It isn't me! It is my hormones. It feels like I have found myself again. I know what I need and can do!

Symptoms are the breadcrumbs that lead us to healing.

What if peri-menopause and menopause are an invitation and an opportunity for a new beginning? When you make a choice to address peri /menopausal symptoms, it will lead you to declutter the body from harmful toxins, bring hormonal balance, and repair the body at the cellular level, which has accumulated over the years, including an emotional and mental reset. All this will result in a rejuvenated body, a new you. Taking advantage of the wisdom and experiences you gathered over the years. Evaluate what you won’t tolerate any longer and let go of things you didn’t like. Leave behind what didn't serve you to avoid repeating old patterns.

Is your body an easy target for?

Yes, our body is changing. Imagine that peri/menopause could be a wake-up call to honor and celebrate our amazing healing system that deals with whatever we throw at it, from stress to overeating and indulging in bread, pasta, cakes, chocolate, ice cream, or processed food, cosmetic products, including perfumes. All these aspects flood our body and brain with an excess hormone overload and heavy metal and plastic toxicity, resulting in a weakened immune system. This makes it an easier target for uninvited intruders, such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, yeast, and parasites, that invade our body and brain.

Peri-menopause & Menopause: an invitation to put yourself first

Menopause doesn’t have to mean the end of our womanhood, beauty, or youthfulness. What if aging has to do with rigid thinking? Appreciate that your body gives you a loving reminder that it's high time to rejuvenate and heal as you enter the second half of your life. Evaluate what you want to take to the second half of your life and what you want to leave behind. Make conscious decisions, including having healthy boundaries at work, with your family, with loved ones, and mainly with you, with yourself; treating your body with love, respect, and admiration because it doesn’t want to do anything else than protecting you and helping you to survive, but also it can help you to thrive and live into fullest. Embrace the changes your body is going through and give it a helping hand. Leave resentment, regret, self-judgment and feelings of not being good enough behind and embark on a journey with curiosity, love, inner-wisdom and excitement - what a new you can be. It can be a beautiful part of your life if you let it be that way.
